16 - 22 June 2005: rehearsals
24 - 26 June 2005: finals at Schauspielhaus Graz and Dom im Berg

24 - 26 June 2005

The three ring award teams and the one stageXplorer team at the finals realize their conceptions of the second act of Mozart’s “Le nozze di Figaro” or, respectively, their ‘exploratory’ version of the opera in a full-stage performance.

Each contesting team is matched by lot with a team of singers. These musical teams are organized by several international Richard Wagner societies and the University of Music and Dramatic Arts Graz. Rehearsal time of the directors with the singers are seven days. The stage designers have an opportunity to check the realisation of their concepts over the period of one month prior to the performances.
In the evening of 24 June 2005 there will be a social gathering of all the teams involved in the finals. On 25 and 26 June 2005 the three ring award teams will show their versions to the three juries and a public audience at the Schauspielhaus Graz. The stageXplorer team with present their performance at the Dom im Berg.
On Sunday, 26 June, the award ceremony will take place after the last performance. The Ring Award Jury will bestow the Ring Award, consisting of a commission for a stage production at Opera House Graz. The Press Jury will bestow the Press Award, donated by the Province of Styria, and the Theatre Jury will bestow the Theatre Award, donated by the City of Graz, both at EUR 3000.- each. Each finalist team will receive an additional prize at EUR 7000.-.

Tickets for the finals opening and the four finals performances may be obtained from the Theater Graz box office from the end of May 2005..
